I want to be that mom. You know the one. She’s the one who sends really fancy treats to school for her kids’ birthdays, and manages to always put together fancy gift bags for everyone in the class for EVERY

holiday. Then my kids come home and say, “Next time, can we bake fancy cookies and decorate them like this for everyone in the class?”. And I grit my teeth and mumble some kind of excuse, “Oh, I don’t know honey, those look really hard to make!”

I know. It sounds ridiculous given that I’m a blogger who makes things like these adorable lolly pop bunnies. But at the end of the day, I had time to make 6 of these bunnies, not 25 of them for the whole class. Although, I like to think that I’d fall into the “awesome mom” category if I was organized enough to make 25 of these to send to school for Easter.

I have visions of the kids in the class pulling out their lolly pop bunnies from their back packs at the end of the day, holding them up wide eyed and saying, “Hey, next time can we make something fancy like these???” And then I picture the poor parent having to come up with a convincing reason why they aren’t going to do it.

I know. I’m horrible. But the only thing that gets me through this crazy world of parenting is imagining that the other parents out there go through these struggles. In fact, nothing makes me feel more relieved than hearing other parents complain about how busy their lives are. Or how their kids don’t listen.

I have one of those moments, even if it’s just for a second, where I realize I’m not crazy. And I’m not the only one whose kids take 45 minutes to put their pajamas on. And I’m SURE I’m not the only parent who isn’t organized enough to send fancy treats to school. I also can’t possibly be the only parent who feels guilty about it. haha Oh parenthood. How you mess with my head.

These lolly pop bunnies are adorable! And they would make a great treat for an Easter basket! Or a great treat to set out on the Easter table. Or a fun craft to make with your kids. I am not here to make you feel guilty if you don’t have time to make 25 of these to send to school. They’re super cute and even if you only make a few of them with your kids, you’re kids will still think you’re super awesome, just for spending that time with them.

The full printable instructions are at the end of this post but here’s what you’ll need:

  • Tootsie Pops
  • Styrofoam Balls
  • Googly Eyes
  • Pom Poms
  • White Sparkly Craft Foam
  • White Pipe Cleaners
  • Ribbon

I found the white styrofoam balls at the dollar store in the craft section. They make PERFECT bunny heads!

I used a knitting needle to poke holes in the styrofoam balls. But you could also use a meat thermometer, or even a turkey baster if you have one that comes with a metal needle at the end. Or of course, if you’re really savvy you can use a drill. But I only pull out the drill if it’s absolutely necessary.

Once you’ve made the hole in the styrofoam ball, slide it onto the lolly pop stick. Fold the wrapper around the stick as tightly as you can and gently twirl the styrofoam ball as you go to make sure it covers the wrapper.

Use hot glue to attach the googly eyes and pom poms for the face.

Fold a pipe cleaner to make the ears. Start by making a loop on one end, about 2″ long, and wrapping the end of the pipe cleaner to keep it in place.

Then make another 2″ long loop on the other side and wrap the pipe cleaner end around itself. Fold the ears upwards so they can sit on top of the bunny head.

Use hot glue to attach the ears to the top of the styrofoam ball.

Add two small pom poms for the bunny paws, and one small pom pom as the tail. The tail also helps to keep the bunny standing.

Tie a ribbon around the ears into a bow.

So cute! And so simple! Use different colours of ribbon to match the different colours of Tootsie Pops.

For the blue Tootsie Pops, I used light blue ribbon wrapped around the neck to make a boy bunny.
